- Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C) and prepare a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a medium saucepan, melt ½ cup unsalted butter over medium heat until golden brown and nutty in aroma.
- In a large bowl, mash 3 bananas and mix in sugar, eggs, vanilla, milk, and sour cream. Fold in brown butter.
- Sift flour, baking soda, and salt into the bowl and mix gently until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter.
- Pour the batter into the loaf pan, and sprinkle additional chocolate chips or banana slices on top if desired.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 70-80 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
