Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch baking dish lightly with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, and baking powder until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth. Pour this into the dry ingredients and stir gently until a thick batter forms.
  4. Spoon the thick batter into your prepared baking dish, smoothing it out evenly to the edges.
  5. Sprinkle 3/4 cup of brown sugar evenly over the top of the batter. Optionally, add a pinch of sea salt or chopped nuts.
