Step-by-Step Instructions for Caramelized Onion Pasta
  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over low to medium heat.
  2. Add 2 finely sliced onions and cook for at least 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until caramelized.
  3. Stir in 2 tablespoons of chili oil, 500 ml of heavy cream, and 1 tablespoon of garlic powder. Season with salt and pepper, and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Cook your choice of pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve a cup of pasta water before draining.
  5. Combine the drained pasta with the caramelized onion sauce in the skillet, tossing to coat and adding reserved pasta water as needed.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with 4 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley. Serve warm.
