- In a large pot, bring salted water to a rolling boil. Add penne pasta and cook for about 8-10 minutes until al dente. Before draining, reserve 1 cup of pasta water. Drain the pasta and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing for about 5 minutes until soft and translucent.
- Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart. Cook for about 7-8 minutes until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Reduce heat to low and pour in heavy cream, stirring gently. Gradually add reserved pasta water until the sauce reaches desired thickness, about 3-5 minutes.
- Toss the drained pasta into the skillet, mixing thoroughly for about 2 minutes, allowing the pasta to absorb the sauce flavors.
- Plate the pasta and top with extra Parmesan cheese. Serve hot and enjoy!
