Ingredients

For the Frosting
  • 4 ounces block cream cheese use full-fat for best results
  • 1 to 1½ tablespoons matcha powder adjust amount to taste or omit for plain frosting
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar no substitutes for texture recommended
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract optional if you prefer a pure matcha taste
  • 2 cups heavy cream ensure it's well-chilled for optimal results

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • electric mixer

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 ounces of softened block cream cheese and 1 to 1½ tablespoons of sifted matcha powder. Using an electric mixer, beat the mixture on medium speed for about 2 to 4 minutes until it becomes perfectly smooth and well-blended.
  2. Once your cream cheese mixture is smooth, reduce the mixer speed to low. Gradually add in ¾ cup of powdered sugar in thirds, mixing until just incorporated after each addition.
  3. Next, pour in 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract to enhance the flavor profile. Then, with the mixer still on low speed, slowly drizzle in 2 cups of chilled heavy cream.
  4. Continue mixing the frosting on medium to high speed until stiff peaks form, which should take about 3 to 5 minutes.
  5. If you accidentally over-mix the frosting and it becomes chunky, simply add a splash of heavy cream and whip on low speed until smooth again.
