  • 8 oz ham sturdy slices
  • 8 oz Swiss cheese shredded
For the Egg Mixture
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk or almond milk for dairy-free option
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey/agave syrup
  • 1 tbsp mustard Dijon or honey mustard works

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cut bread into 1-inch cubes and layer half in the bottom of the dish.
  3. Layer half of the ham slices and half of the Swiss cheese over the bread.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, maple syrup, mustard, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour half of the egg mixture over the first layer.
  6. Repeat with remaining bread, ham, and cheese, then pour rest of egg mixture on top.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for 15-20 more minutes.
  8. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving warm.
