  • 4 large Large Eggs No substitutions recommended for best results.
  • 1 cup Half and Half or Whole Milk Substitution: Almond milk or oat milk for a dairy-free version.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Substitution: Almond extract for a different flavor profile.
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon Substitution: Pumpkin pie spice for a seasonal twist.
  • 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar Substitution: Granulated sugar or coconut sugar can be used.
  • 1 pinch Salt No substitutions necessary.
For Cooking and Serving
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Substitution: Coconut oil for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 tablespoon Powdered Sugar Optional; can omit for lower sugar content.
  • 1 cup Fresh Fruit Optional; can also use yogurt or chocolate sauce.
  • 1 cup Maple Syrup Optional; for drizzling.

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Whisk together 4 large eggs and 1 cup of half and half until smooth.
  2. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Poke holes in the bottom of 6 King’s Hawaiian Rolls with a toothpick or fork.
  4. Soak each roll in the custard mixture for about 30 seconds on each side.
  5. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat.
  6. Cook the soaked rolls for about 30-60 seconds on each side until golden brown.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with fresh fruit and maple syrup.
