  • 1 medium Onion Can substitute with shallots.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Adjust according to preference.
  • 1 tsp Salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper Adjust to taste.
For the Gravy
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil Can substitute with vegetable oil.
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Paste Use canned or fresh.
  • 1 cup Dry Red Wine Use Cabernet or Merlot.
  • 2 cups Beef Broth Homemade or store-bought.
Optional Additions
  • Herbs (optional) Fresh thyme or basil recommended.

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Gather all ingredients.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until evenly combined.
  3. Form the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sear meatballs in batches for about 5 minutes until golden brown.
  5. In the same skillet, sauté onions until translucent, then add garlic and tomato paste and cook for an additional minute.
  6. Pour in red wine, scraping the skillet to deglaze. After 2 minutes, add beef broth and simmer briefly.
  7. Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer on low for about 30 minutes.
  8. Check meatballs for doneness, then serve with gravy.
