Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs
  • 1 lb Ground Beef or ground turkey/chicken for lighter option
  • 1 Yellow Onion (Finely Minced) can swap with shallots
  • 2 cloves Garlic or use garlic powder as alternative
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs or use gluten-free breadcrumbs
  • 1 Egg can replace with a flax egg for vegan option
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce or soy sauce can be used
  • 1 tsp Kosher Salt adjust according to taste
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper or use white pepper for milder flavor
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil or vegetable oil for browning
For the Gravy
  • 2 tbsp Butter or use ghee for dairy-free option
  • 1 medium Onions (Sliced) sweet or red onions can be used
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder or fresh garlic can be used
  • 2 tbsp All-Purpose Flour or cornstarch for gluten-free option
  • 2 cups Beef Broth or vegetable broth for vegetarian version
  • 1 tsp Thyme use dried thyme if fresh is not available

Method
 

Meatball Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, gently combine ground beef, finely minced onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, kosher salt, and black pepper.
  2. Using a 1½ tablespoon scoop, portion the meat mixture and roll it into smooth balls.
  3. Refrigerate the meatballs for 30 minutes.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and brown the meatballs in batches.
Gravy Preparation
  1. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté sliced onions over medium heat until soft.
  2. Add garlic powder and flour, stirring constantly to form a roux.
  3. Slowly pour in beef broth while stirring to prevent lumps and bring to a simmer.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste before returning meatballs to the skillet.
  5. Simmer for an additional 8-10 minutes before serving.
