- In a small bowl, mix 4 tablespoons of softened unsalted butter with 2 crushed garlic cloves and 2 tablespoons of finely chopped fresh dill until creamy and fragrant.
- Partially freeze the 1 lb steak for about 30 minutes, then slice against the grain into ¼-inch thick strips. Toss with salt.
- Heat a large skillet over high heat and add a tablespoon of cooking oil. Cook the seasoned steak strips for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
- In the same skillet, add sliced yellow onions and cook for about 8-10 minutes until soft and golden brown.
- Slice the baguette in half lengthwise and spread the garlic herb butter on both sides.
- Layer the cooked steak strips on one side of the buttered baguette, followed by caramelized onions and top with 4 slices of Havarti cheese.
- Preheat your broiler on high, place the assembled sandwich on a baking sheet, and broil for about 2 minutes until the cheese bubbles.
- Carefully remove the sandwich from the oven, cut it in half, and serve immediately.
